ADHD and Relationships

"It is complicated. But does not mean it is impossible'".

ree

Indeed, to be in a relationship with a person with ADHD can be very challenging. It can be tough. Loads of patience and understanding are needed. To illustrate, imagine riding roller coasters everyday. Without any safety belts on. Things can change pretty quickly in a day. Bumpy rides with lots of ups and downs.

In the morning, you'll probably need to deal with the tantrums and no choice but to deal with it. In the evening, you might think you've just found the funniest person on earth. At night, you might end up not having enough sleep cause of the non-stop conversations and sometimes arguments.

Ergo, this does not mean a person with ADHD has personality problem or disorder. It can be exhausting especially for the person with the ADHD itself. Trust me, they really want to try. Just give them chances to be better. The main problem always ends the same way; Assigning blame to ADHD. Being told these ;

"Oh.. so it is okay to to excuse you cause of your 'ADHD'?"

"We've been through this over and over. How can you not learn? Do you understand? Are you oblivion?"

"Are you even listening to yourself?"

It hurts. We tried. We want everything to be okay. We want to be love and to love.
